Parent Corps
The Parent Corps is an Academy-wide Parent Organization. Guided by clearly defined responsibilities, the Parent Corps strives to advance our mission and capitalize on the wealth of resources throughout the Academy. Ultimately, the work of the Parent Corps enhances the learning environment for our students both in and out of the classroom, and offers parents numerous opportunities to be involved in the school life of their child.
The primary objectives of the Parent Corps are threefold: to enhance the overall student experience, to encourage parent and family involvement, and to establish SJPIICA as an integral member of the Dorchester, Mattapan, and greater Boston communities. Every effort and initiative undertaken by the Parent Corps is in support of one of these objectives.
In order for our Parent Corps to be successful, volunteers are necessary. In addition to the Parent Corps President and Vice President, every campus needs numerous parent volunteers to serve as Chair people of four sub-committees. Each of the four committees (Student Enrichment, Family Enrichment, Spiritual Enrichment, and Communication/Outreach) is headed by a Chairperson on each of the campuses. These Committee Chairs are responsible for building a team of parent volunteers on their campus who focus on that specific aspect of Parent Corps. Working closely with their campus principal, and in collaboration with members from the same committee on other campuses, our Parent Corps Organization helps us to work more effectively, efficiently, creatively, and collaboratively as an Academy.
To become an active member, please attend your next campus Parent Corps meeting as indicated on your monthly calendar, or contact your campus Parent Corps President.

Lexile
Lexile.com is helpful website that allows families to type in the student’s reading level (Lexile Range) and select their personal interests to recommend several books that would be appropriately challenging and interesting. This is a great resource to help us support students who might be a little particular about what they read or they’re looking to start a new series and want a recommendation.
Khan Academy
Khan Academy provides you with the opportunity to plug in your students’ MAP scores (by sub-category) and receive individualized practice problems to help grow in specific areas!
Starfall
